May 7: OHSU Casey Eye Institute hosts Great Glasses Play Day

WHAT:
Portland’s Great Glasses Play Day celebrates children with glasses, eyepatches and contacts, and raises awareness about the importance of early detection. The event is free and open to the public.
Casey Eye Institute’s Elks Children's Eye Clinic will provide free vision screenings screenings through the See to Read program, and young attendees will enjoy:
- Playing in a pretend eye doctor’s office
- Participating in glasses crafts
- Decorating eye patches
- Playing in a large life-size block house
- Whacking a glasses piñata
Olive & Dingo Productions will sing and offer balloons.

OHSU Casey Eye Institute is one of 15 organizations nationwide hosting glasses play days this weekend.
Oregonian Jessica Butler, whose son wears eyeglasses, was inspired to start a company called Eye Power Kids Wear that designs apparel for kids with glasses and patches. She also is a national board member for Great Kids Play Day.
The Great Glasses Play Day is a joint venture between Peeps Eyewear, Little Four Eyes and Eye Power Kid's Wear.
