WHAT: 

On Monday, May 1, Guinness Book of World Records judges will officially certify that a multi-disciplinary team at OHSU discovered the world’s smallest skin cancer detected.

Speakers include:

• Sancy Leachman, M.D., Ph.D., Director of the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute’s Melanoma Program and Chair of the Dermatology Department in the OHSU School of Medicine.
• Christy Staats, a patient who had the world’s smallest melanoma on her cheek.
• Members of the OHSU clinical team who detected and confirmed the melanoma, including Alexander Witkowski, M.D., Ph.D., an assistant professor of dermatology in the OHSU School of Medicine, who first discovered the area of concern.
• Following the speakers’ remarks, there is an opportunity for one-on-one interviews and a demonstration of the in vivo device — a non-invasive virtual biopsy that is effective on sensitive areas like the face or neck.
