Oregon Health & Science University is a community of healers dedicated to the health and well-being of every Oregonian. We pursue this work every day in a variety of ways — from clinical care and research, to education and advocacy. It is work we do together across the institution.

OHSU’s commitment to expanding and protecting health care access extends across the full spectrum of care. Over the last decade, we have been at the forefront of advocacy to expand Medicaid, reform our health care system, advance workforce development and ensure people here in Oregon have access to reproductive health care. We know the work continues. 

Right now, across this country, state legislatures are banning abortion and gender-affirming care, criminalizing the lifesaving work of dedicated health care professionals, and threatening the very existence of transgender people.

It is important to regularly affirm our commitment to our missions and to all people who count on OHSU to provide safe, effective, evidence-based care. OHSU is proud to provide gender-affirming health care and the full-continuum of sexual and reproductive health care — including abortion.

Together, here at home and across the country, we will continue doing everything we can to improve access to care — including gender-affirming care and abortion — protect our dedicated health care professionals, and build a safe and welcoming environment for all people.
