OHSU Foundation welcomes new trustees

OHSU Foundation names new vice chair, trustees and ex-officio members of the board of trustees, effective July 1, 2023

The OHSU Foundation has announced a new slate of trustees of its board, including the appointment of long-time OHSU supporter and business leader Kelly Schrader as vice chair, and five other leaders.

The OHSU Foundation is governed by a volunteer board of trustees comprised of civic and business leaders who help the Foundation to ignite the power of philanthropy in support of OHSU’s missions.

“Board volunteer leaders and our trustees not only serve, but they also give their time, talents and treasure to OHSU in countless ways that make a difference in the lives of our patients, learners and employees,” said Jill Eiland, interim president of the OHSU Foundation. “Our trustees are tireless advocates and supporters of OHSU’s missions, priorities and future growth opportunities, and we are delighted to welcome this new cohort to the board.”

“I am excited for this new cohort of volunteer leaders to join the board and make a valuable impact contributing to OHSU’s missions,” said Greg Ness, chair of the OHSU Foundation board of trustees.

Schrader, who joins the foundation board as vice chair, has been a community volunteer and supporter of OHSU and OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital since 2014. Most recently, she served three years as the co-chair of the Doernbecher Philanthropy Board.

Previously, Schrader was president and CEO of iQ Credit Union and the senior vice president/chief operations and risk officer of OnPoint Community Credit Union. Schrader is also a member of the OHSU Foundation and Doernbecher Philanthropy Board stewardship committees and member of the 2022 – 23 OHSU Foundation presidential search committee.

  • John Hershey, retired director of investments with the Oregon State Treasury, with more than 30 years of experience managing investments.  
  • Aadam Hussain, senior vice president at Cambia Health Solutions, who leads the efforts to transform digital engagement with health plan members and develop partnerships with innovative companies that offer cutting-edge solutions.
  • Josh Schlesinger, president and CEO of the Schlesinger Companies, a Portland-based family office specializing in commercial real estate investment.

Ex-officio members named to the board are:

  • Nancy Haigwood, Ph.D., a professor at OHSU who has spent the last 42 years in research developing vaccines and antibody-based therapies to prevent or treat human diseases.
  • Steven Prewitt, new Doernbecher Philanthropy Board co-chair and an experienced intellectual property attorney and shareholder of Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt, PC.
