OHSU’s 30-30-30 initiative, which aims to grow and diversify Oregon’s health care workforce as well as OHSU’s health profession student body, is enabling two Umpqua Community College nursing faculty members to remotely earn master’s degrees in nursing from the OHSU School of Nursing while remaining in their Southern Oregon communities. In a new study, OHSU researchers have found that individuals receiving a COVID-19 vaccine during the first half of their menstrual cycle are more likely to experience slight, temporary cycle length changes than those receiving a vaccine in the second half. The study's lead author, Alison Edelman, M.D., says: "Understanding these changes on a population level allows us to more effectively counsel patients about what to expect with a COVID-19 vaccine. We hope this work helps validate the public’s experiences and ease fears and anxiety around vaccination."
