Scientists Create Largest Atlas of Post-Zygotic Human Gene Mutations

Researchers have created the largest atlas of post-zygotic mutations in healthy human tissue ever assembled, in a study published in the journal Science. Senior author Don Conrad, Ph.D., says, “If you’re talking about genetic changes being the basis of disease, there are a wide variety of technologies now that allow us to make changes to the genome. It may be possible to change those mutations we’ve acquired due to bad luck or bad habits.”

Dennis Crawford, M.D., says, “Quite frankly, there hasn’t been a substantial development for the treatment of this ubiquitous disease for more than 50 years."

Kotek asks lawmakers to address gaps in behavioral health care funding

The Statesman Journal reports that Gov. Tina Kotek is pushing legislation to shore up funding for behavioral health services, including $1.5 million to OHSU for the Behavioral Health Coordination Center. OHSU also previously received federal funding for the center.
