Lower Blood Pressure Better in Pregnancy With Diabetes

Jamie Lo, M.D., comments on a study that found pregnant women diagnosed with chronic hypertension and diabetes appeared to avoid poorer outcomes if they maintained a blood pressure below some current guidelines: "I think that Dr. Harper's study suggests we should consider a different blood pressure range for our diabetic pregnant individuals. Larger randomized control trials would be needed to better assess this."

Mick Scanlan, M.D., who also serves on the College of American Pathologists board of governors, says that although the organization has felt pressure to ensure it has enough inspectors, it has been able to fill any gaps: "We're not in crisis at the CAP for inspectors."
