OHSU pioneers gene editing technique for eye disease

Oregon Health & Science University has been on the forefront of using the genetic editing technique known as CRISPR for years. Now, it has successfully used CRISPR to edit the genes in patients with a rare eye disease. Mark Pennesi is a professor of ophthalmology at OHSU, and Carlene Knight is one of the patients who received this treatment.

COVID survivor thanks OHSU nurses who ‘gave me my life back’

COVID survivor Rick Barde, who was hospitalized for two months at OHSU, returns to thank those who saved his life: “I wasn’t anticipating pulling up and getting so emotional — but these people gave me my life back. They worked very hard.” He returned to OHSU with the group Positive Charge! PDX, which donated dozens of care packages for OHSU health care workers.
